Following his nearly loss on claiming the Premier League championship title, Mohamed Salah defeated Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester United to bag his second PFA Player of the Year award. Meanwhile, Sam Kerr of Chelsea women’s football team became the first Australian who has received the award.

Salah has won the PFA Awards

Salah is highly considered by many as the top goalscorer in the Premier League so it all makes sense that he also won the PFA Player of the Year Award. Salah defeated other football superstars who are being considered to win such as Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and fellow Liverpool player, Sadio Mane.

Salah also has profitable SingaporePools odds in the betting platform where he is always a favorite player. Upon receiving the award, Salah expressed his gratitude on receiving such a huge accolade.

“It was such a huge achievement and I am deeply grateful for the organizers and the players who voted and gave me this distinction. In fact, I have a huge space in my cabinet for more awards like this. I was just kidding,” he said.

Salah joins the two-time winners circle

Upon receiving the PFA Player of the Year Award, Salah also joined the elite circle of players who have won the award two times. Among the two-time award winners are Mark Hughes, Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, Alan Shearer, Gareth Bale, Lucy Bronze, and Fran Kirby.

Despite the agonizing failure of Liverpool in the race of getting the championship title in the Premier League, the Egyptian star couldn’t prevent the receiving individual player awards.

Kerr becomes first Australian to win PFA Awards

Sam Kerr of Chelsea Football Club Women became the first Australian football player to have won the PFA Player of the Year Award. She finally received the award following her failure to win the award in 2021 when she was defeated by her squad-mate Fran Kirby.

Kerr became the top goalscorer of the current season of the Women’s Super League where she scored 20 goals. She also played a huge role in the victory of Chelsea when she assisted the team to defeat Manchester United in the FA Cup. Kerr was also a huge star in the industry of online betting Singapore.

Kerr deserves the accolade

Kerr definitely deserved the title following her hard work and sacrifice for being a reliable strength of the team while her team-mates Bethany England, Pernille Harder, and Fran Kirby were in and out of the team due to illness and injury.

When asked about her recent achievement, she answered the question humbly and refused to solely own the credit for her success.

“I am deeply honored to receive the Player of the Year award and I’m happy that my contemporaries voted for me. Although, I’m not going to take the credit of this success for myself, it is always about teamwork, and I dedicated this award to my team-mates,” she said.

Powell and Hodgson were granted PFA merit honors

The 2022 PFA Award also granted honor for other two outstanding individuals. The PFA Merit Awards was given to Roy Hodgson and Hope Powell. The two former England coaches received the accolades for their huge contribution to the industry of soccer and sports betting.

After having an illustrious career in football for 40 years, Hodgson finally retired last month and he’s deeply grateful in receiving the honor. Meanwhile, Brighton manager Powell thanked the organizers of the award while reminiscing her experiences on her career in both club and national football.

Conclusion

The Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year Award is an award being held annually to honor the top goalscorers for the year in English football. Clearly, 2022 is a good year for Liverpool player Mohamed Salah, having won the award in June and also being considered for other awards for his outstanding performances in both domestic and international football.
